# Speed Test

1. Change Your Homepage in Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Go to the webpage you wish to be your homepage. Like http://www.indytel.com
  3. Left click Tools in the top menu
  4. Left click Internet Options at the bottom of the menu that pops up
  5. Left click Use Current button.
  6. Left click Apply button at the bottom right
  7. Left click OK button to close the window.
  8. Your homepage is now set and will come up the next time you open Internet Explorer

2. Delete Internet Temporary Files in Internet Explorer

( this will remove all temp files and saved forms )

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Left click Tools in the top menu
  3. Left click Internet Options at the bottom of the menu
  4. Left click Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files
  5. Left click Delete all offline content
  6. Left click OK
  7. Left click OK again to close the window

3. Reset Internet Explorer settings to default

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Left click Tools in the top menu on the right side
  3. Left click Internet Options at the bottom of the menu
  4. Left click Programs tab on the top right
  5. Left click Reset button on the bottom right
  6. Left click on checkmark to remove it if you wish to keep your current homepage
  7. Left click OK to close the window

4. Install Windows Defender

    (This will help to clean unwanted internet cookies and spyware)

  1. Left click on this link http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx
  2. Left click on the Get It Now button in the middle of the window.
  3. Left click on the Download button.
  4. If the Download does not start automatically there is a link to Start Download manually.
  5. Left click the Save button.
  6. Left click the Next and Validate to Validate your Windows.
  7. Left click on I Accept Terms to highlight it and Left click Next.
  8. Left click Recommended Settings at the top and Left click Next.
  9. The button next to Complete should be dark.  Left click Next.
  10. Left click Install and wait till it finishes.
  11. There should be a checkmark in the Check for Updates box.  Left click Finish.
  12. Wait a few minutes and it will update and start a scan.  Wait till it is done scanning.
  13. There will be a list of items found.  If you have any programs in this list you wish to keep select Ignore, otherwise, leave the default selection.
  14. Left click Remove All to fix the items found.  Then restart the computer.

5. Install Firefox Internet Browser

  1. Open Internet Explorer and click on the link to go to http://www.getfirefox.com
  2. Left click on the Download Firefox icon at the top left of the page.
  3. Left click Run.
  4. If another window pops up asking whether to Run the program, just Left click Run.
  5. Left click Next.
  6. Left click to highlight the button next to I Accept the Terms of the License Agreement and Left click Next.
  7. The Standard button should be highlighted.  Left click Next.
  8. Left click Next.
  9. You may be asked to import your Internet Explorer settings.  Just click Next.
  10. Left click Finish and Firefox should start up.  If you wish to change your homepage go to the next How To.

6. Set the Firefox Homepage

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Go to the webpage you wish to be your homepage. Like http://www.indytel.com
  3. Left click Tools in the top menu on the right side
  4. Left click Preferences at the bottom of the menu that pops up
  5. Left click General at the top left
  6. Left click Use Current Page in the top middle
  7. Left click OK
  8. Your homepage is now set and will come up the next time you open Firefox

7. Delete Temporary Internet Files in Firefox

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Left click Tools in the top menu on the right side
  3. Left click Options at the bottom of the menu that pops up
  4. Left click Privacy at the upper left
  5. If you wish to delete all history files, left click Clear History at the bottom right
  6. Left click on each tab you wish to clear and click on the Clear button at the bottom right
  7. Left click OK to close the window

8. Customize Firefox

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Right click to the right of Help in the top menu
  3. A window will open with icons. You may grab an icon by dragging and dropping it next to another icon on the top of the firefox window.
  4. Each icon performs a different task, such as, printing, opening a new window, or opening a new tabbed window

9. Add Extentions to Firefox

  1. Open Firefox
  2. Left click Tools in the top menu on the right side
  3. Left click Extensions in the menu that pops up
  4. Left click Get More Extensions at the bottom right
  5. Left click the link the extension you wish to add
  6. Left click the Install link
  7. Left click Install Now at the bottom right of the new window
  8. Left click on the X on the upper right the close the window
  9. Close Firefox and reopen Firefox to start using your new extension
