Life Support Customers
Customers with
health problems requiring electrically powered medical equipment need to
provide Independence Light and Power with a letter from their physician stating
this. We will put them on our emergency generation list, which is shared with
the fire department, safety center, and Buchanan County Health Center. We will
attempt to give Life Support customers special consideration when planned
outages occur in your neighborhood and alert our employees to your special
needs. We ask that all oxygen dependent customers have a 4-6 hour backup
supply. If there should be an outage that lasts longer then 3 hours we will
attempt to provide these customers with portable generators or have the
customer transported to a facility that has generators.
We do ask that
if you should no longer need the electrically powered medical equipment that
you have your doctor provide us with notification of this. We then can remove
your name from the emergency generation list.
