One of our trained technicians will come to your home and perform an energy audit. He will provide you with a checklist that will help you idendify areas of concern that could be wasting energy. He will also perform an air infiltration test, which measures the tightness of your house, it is commonly referred to as a Blower Door Test. This test uses the latest technology to determine the amount of air that is leaking into and out of your home. With this equipment we can locate those areas so they can be properly sealed. The service is available to IL & P, T customers at a cost of $25 within our electric service territory and $75 outside this territory.
In addition to this equipment we have purchased software to determine heating and cooling loads for your homes. This is important to insure that the correct size heating and cooling unit is installed. Sizing of the units is critical not only for the initial expense but also in the on going operational cost of the unit. There is no cost for this service and must be done to qualify for any rebates that we offer.
